Today is the big day, according to channeler Blossom Goodchild (probably not her real name). It's the day when an alien spacecraft will appear in the skies of the Earth, to remain visible for the next three days.
Bookies in London have actually stopped taking bets on this claim because of the money that's been wagered.
A rather bizarre message from the aliens, received by Ms. Goodchild, can be read here. It assures us, "We do not come to destruct." Well, I suppose we can't expect Venusians to use perfect English.
Confusingly, the ship is promised to appear in the southern hemisphere, but then Alabama is mentioned. Alabama is in the northern hemisphere. Ms. Goodchild helpfully suggests that the ship itself may be named Alabama.
I guess it's better than calling it New Jersey.
Alternatively, maybe the aliens are fans of the country-rock band Alabama and are hoping to arrange a command performance. That would certainly be something to see.
Alas, I suspect that October 14 will pass without extraterrestrial visitation, and that Ms. Goodchild's reputation will suffer accordingly.
But those bookies will probably be relieved.
